Who we are

TL Winery is home-based in Wisconsin with plans to open a winery in the future. We are two home-brewers with a passion for creating wine from local fruit.

What does TL stand for?
When the owners, Nate and Andy started home-brewing back in 2015, they decided they needed a name to put on the wine labels. TL was the first letter of their last names and has stuck ever since. It’s more though than initials.

To us, TL Winery stands for Midwest-proud wine and cider. All of the fruit we use is either grown by us or locally procured. The honey we use to sweeten the wine is from local bees. We are proud to cultivate and perfect these attributes in our wine and cider and hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

What do we do?
We currently make wine and hard cider. Both realms offer different experiences and we love sharing them with others. Our wine is made from locally grown grapes and we will be planing grapes of our own this spring. Our cider is produced from apples from local orchards.

Where do we want to go?
We are striving to open a winery in the St. Croix river valley in Wisconsin in the future. There are many challenges and opportunities for us to achieve this goal but we are confident and excited to get there!

Why Midwest?
Well, we’re from the Midwest, and it means so many things to us. Rolling corn fields, farmland, dairy, forest, our home! Wine comes from a TON of different areas, but most people think of either France or out west in California. As you peruse your local wine store, you'll primarily see wine from those areas. Not many people though know that grapes grow here in the Midwest too! There are varieties of grape that actually do very well here, some of them were created by the University of Minnesota specifically for our cold climate. These wine varieties are not well-known by many. They tend to have a different flavor profile, from bold fruit flavors to sweet and dry whites. Our goal is to spread that knowledge and add some variety to the everyday wine drinker’s experience. So thank you for being part of this journey with us!
